Daniel Spector

Dan works with executives in the public, private, and non-profit sectors to help them achieve their strategic objectives, improve decision-making processes, and navigate complexity. Dan has managed dozens of strategic planning engagements, working with clients and stakeholders to expand and diversify portfolios, design and align initiatives, and map resource-constrained actions to desired outcomes.

Dan leads Simon Everett’s international trade, economic development, and cybersecurity portfolios. He applies the capabilities and expertise of Simon Everett’s network to support the goals of clients such as the US Department of State, US Trade and Development Agency, economic development agencies, and companies in the information technology, manufacturing, and engineering sectors.

Prior to founding Simon Everett with Brian, Dan was instrumental in the establishment and early success of Aveshka, a professional services company. Dan joined Aveshka shortly after its launch, and he helped build and ultimately run its analysis & preparedness practice. His portfolio included red teaming, exercise design, and doctrine development capabilities.

Dan is also an alumnus of Eurasia Group, a political risk firm. There, he was responsible for developing new public sector business, managing client engagements, and increasing the firm’s exposure to the financial intelligence and cybersecurity communities.

Previously, Dan was the business area manager for the US-based Cyber and Information Sharing practice at Detica, a BAE Systems company. There, he managed business operations for a hybrid team of engineers and analysts developing advanced, risk-based data analytics software.

Dan also served as Director of Planning and Engagement at the Washington Cyber Roundtable, a non-profit dedicated to constructive public-private dialogue on cybersecurity issues.

Dan received his bachelor’s degree in international politics from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. Dan has traveled to more than 70 countries on six continents.
